《 حِكَم لأَمير المؤمنين عليه السلام لكُمَيل بن زياد 》
Wise advice from the Prince of the righteous - peace be upon him - to Kumail Bin Ziad
يَـا كُمَـيْل ! إِنَّ هذهِ القلوب أَوْعِيَة (1) ، فَخَيْرُهَا أَوْعاها (2) ، إِحْفَظْ عَنّي مَا أَقُول ، أَلناسُ ثلاثة :
عَالِمٌ رَبّانِيّ ، ومُتَعَلِّمٌ على سبيلِ نجاة ، وهَمَج ٌ(3) رَعَاع (4) ، أتباعُ كُلِّ نَاعِق (5) ، يَميلونَ مع كلِّ ريح ، لَمْ يَستضيئوا بِنور العِلم ، ولَمْ يَلْجَأوا إلى رُكْنٍ وَثِيق
Oh Kumail!
The hearts are containers and the best of them are those that preserve what is put in them. Remember what I say, people are three (types):
A man of God, a scholar on the path to survive (in Judgment day), and filthy idiot crowed that follow any shouter, they bend (follow) with every wind, they weren’t enlightened by the light of knowledge, and they didn’t seek ****ter (in an Imam) at a trusted foundation.
يـَا كُمـَيْل ! أَلْعِلْمُ خيرٰ من المال ، ألعِلمُ يَحْرُسُكَ ، وأنتَ تَحرُسُ المال ، والمالُ تَنْقُصُهُ النَّفَقَة ، والعِلْمُ يَزْكو (6) على الإِنفاق(...)
Oh Kumail!
Knowledge is better than money. Knowledge protects you and you protect the money. Money becomes less when you spend it and knowledge increase when you spread it.
يـَا كُمَـيْل ! مَنْفَعَةُ المالِ تَزولُ بِزَوَالِهِ . يَـا كُمَـيْل ! ماتَ خُزَّانُ المال ،ِ والعُلَماءُ باقونَ ما بَقِيَ الدَّهْر ، أَعْيَانُهُمْ مَفْقُودَة ، وأَمْثالُهُمْ فِي القلوبِ مَوْجُودَة(...)
Oh Kumail!
The benefits of the money disappear with its disappearance.
Oh Kumail!
The guardians of the money will die (history will ignore them), and the people with knowledge are alive till the end of time. Their bodies are absent, but they (their knowledge and teaching) are present in the hearts (of people).

(1) ـ أَوْعِـيَة : مفردها وِعَاء وهو الإناء وما أشبهه .
(2) ـ أَوْعَاهَا : أَشَـدُّها حِفظاً .
(3) ـ هَمَجَ : حمقى
(4) ـ رَعَاع : سَفَـلَة الناس .
(5) ـ نَـاعِق : أَلدَّاعِي إِلَى بَاطِل .
(6) ـ يَـزْكُو : يَزْدادُ كَثْرَةً .
