Mehr News Agency extends its heartfelt congratulations to all Muslims in commemoration of the birth of the mother of the pure Imams (Peace Be Upon Them).

Fatimah al-Zahra (Peace Be Upon Her) s born on the 20th of Jumada al-Akhira, in the fifth year of the Prophetic mission, while the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) s 45 years old. She spent eight years in Mecca and ten years in Medina. When Khadijah (Peace Be Upon Her) s pregnant with Fatimah, Fatimah (Peace Be Upon Her) would talk to her from the womb, comforting her. Khadijah kept this secret from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), but one day, the Prophet entered and heard Khadijah speaking to Fatimah. He asked her, "O Khadijah, who are you speaking to?" She replied, "The fetus in my womb speaks to me and comforts me." He then said, "O Khadijah, this is Jibril (Gabriel) informing me that she is a girl, and that she is the pure and blessed offspring. God will make my progeny continue through her, and from her descendants, there will be Imams who will be His successors after the end of His revelation."

Khadijah (Peace Be Upon Her) remained on this path until the time of her delivery. She called upon the women of the Quraysh and Banu Hashim to assist her in the delivery, but they refused, citing that she had married the orphan of Abu Talib, a poor man with no wealth. They told her, "We will not come to assist you, nor will we take part in your affair." Khadijah (Peace Be Upon Her) s saddened by this, but while she s in this state, four women appeared before her. They were tall, dark-skinned women, seemingly from Banu Hashim. At the sight of them, Khadijah s startled, and one of them said, "Do not worry, O Khadijah, for we are messengers from your Lord. We are your sisters: I am Sarah, this is Asiya bint Muzahim, your companion in Paradise; this is Maryam bint Imran, and this is Kulthum, the sister of Musa (Moses). We have been sent to you to assist you, as women assist one another in childbirth." The women arranged themselves around her: one sitting on her right, another on her left, the third before her, and the fourth behind her. Fatimah (Peace Be Upon Her) s born pure and immaculate. When she s born, a light shone from her that illuminated the homes of Mecca, and no place on Earth, whether in the East or West, remained untouched by that light. Ten of the Houris (the celestial women) entered, each holding a basin and a pitcher from Paradise, containing ter from the Kawthar. One of the women, who s seated before Khadijah, took Fatimah (Peace Be Upon Her) and shed her with the ter of the Kawthar. She then took two white pieces of cloth, whiter than milk and more fragrant than musk or ambergris, wrapped her in one and covered her head with the other. Then, the woman spoke to Fatimah (Peace Be Upon Her), who, miraculously, spoke and testified: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that my father, the Messenger of Allah, is the leader of all prophets, my husband is the leader of all the successors, and my children are the leaders of the tribes."

The women then said, "Take her, O Khadijah, pure, immaculate, and blessed. Blessed is she and her descendants." Khadijah took her, overwhelmed with joy, and suckled her, and milk flowed from her.

She is the radiant star, the overflowing river of Al-Kawthar, shining for the people of the heavens as the stars shine for the people of the earth. Allah becomes angry when she is angered and pleased when she is pleased. She is the Lady of the Women of the Worlds — she is Fatimah al-Zahra.

Her Age (Peace Be Upon Her): 18 years.

    Her Birth:

Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, s born in Mecca on a Friday, the 20th of Jumada al-Akhira, two years after the Prophetic mission. She s the youngest and most beloved daughter of the Prophet, and through her, his lineage continued. For his love for her, he would refer to her as "Umm Abiha" (Mother of Her Father). The Prophet named her Fatimah al-Zahra and called her Az-Zahra and Al-Batool, meaning she s separated from the women of her time in terms of virtue, faith, and lineage. Some say she s called "Al-Batool" because she separated herself from the world and devoted herself entirely to Allah.

Fatimah spent eight years in Mecca with her father, then migrated to Medina after the migration of the Prophet. She married Ali (Peace Be Upon Him) in Medina, and when the Prophet (PBUH) passed ay, she s 18 years old.

The Prophet (PBUH) often testified to her greatness and declared, "Fatimah is a part of me, and whoever angers her has angered me." He also said, "Fatimah is a part of me. Whatever harms her harms me, and whatever pleases her pleases me."

In a narration from al-Saduq in Al-Amali, Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet (PBUH) s once sitting with Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn when he said, "O Allah, these are my family, the most honored of people to me. Love those who love them, and hate those who hate them. Support those who support them, and oppose those who oppose them. They are purified from all filth, and protected from all sin, and they are aided by the Holy Spirit."

Imam Ahmad and Abu Dawood narrate in Al-Isti'ab that the Prophet (PBUH) said, "The best women of Paradise are Khadijah bint Khuylid, Fatimah bint Muhammad, Asiya bint Muzahim (the wife of Pharaoh), and Maryam bint Imran." He also said, "The best women of the world are four: Maryam bint Imran, Asiya bint Muzahim, Khadijah bint Khuylid, and Fatimah bint Muhammad."
