《 وصايا لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله لأبي ذر 》
Messenger of Allah (His prayer and Peace be upon Him & his progeny) commandments to Abu Thar.
يا أبا ذر ! أعبد الله كأنك تراه . فإن كنت لا تراه ، فإنه عزّ وجلّ يراك ، واعلم أن أوّل عبادة الله المعرفة به . إنّه الأوّل قبَل كل شيء ، فلا شيء قَبْلَه ُ، والفرد فلا ثاني معه ، والباقي لا إلى غاية ، فاطرِ السموات والأرض وما فيهما ، وما بينهما من شيء ، وهو اللطيف الخبير . وهو على كل شيء قدير .
ثم الإيمان بي ، والإقرار بأنَّ الله عزّ وجلّ أرسلني إلى كافة الناس ، بشيراً ونذيرا ً، وداعياً إلى الله بإذنه وسراجاً منيراً ، ثم أحِبَّ أهل بيتي الذين أذهب الله عنهم الرجس وطهرهم تطهيراً
Oh Abu Thar!
Worship Allah as if you see Him. For If you don’t see Him He sees you. And Know, that the first stage of worshiping Allah, is to know Him. He is the first before anything, for nothing is before him. (His is the Sole) The Only with no other with him, He remains indefinitely. He is the Creator of Heavens and Earth with what is inside and between them. He is the Kind, the Expert. He does what He wills.
And then believing in me, and submit that Allah the Almighty has sent me (as his messenger) to all mankind as a glad tiding and a warner, and a guide toward Allah by His permission and a radiant light (guiding light). Then love my progeny whom Allah has protected them from all types of filth and immensely purified them.
واعْلَمْ يا أبا ذر ! أنّ الله جعل أهل بيتي كسفينة النجاة في قوم نوح ، من ركبها نجا ، ومن رَغِبَ عنها غَرِق ، ومثل باب حِطَّة في بني إسرائيل ، مَنْ دَخَـلَهُ كان آمنا ً.
يا أبا ذر ! إِحْفَظْ ما أوصيكَ بِـهِ ، تَكُنْ سعيداً في الدنيا و الآخرة .
Abu Thar you must know that Allah has made my progeny similar to Noah Arc whoever enters it is saved and who doesn’t is drowned (deviated from the right path). They are similar to the Door of Hitta in the Israelites who ever enters it will be safe.
Oh Abu Thar! You will live happily here and hereafter if you remember what I have decreed to you.
يا أبا ذر ! نِعْمَتان مَغْـبُونٌ فيهما كثيرٌ من الناس : أَلصحة والفراغ .
Oh Abu Thar, there are two blessings that many people don’t pay them much attention, health and spare time.
يا أبا ذر ! إِغْـتَـنِمْ خمساً قَـبْلَ خمس : شبَابَكَ قبل هَرَمِكَ ، وصِحَّتكَ قبل سَقَمِكَ ، وغِنَاكَ قبل فَقْرِكَ ، وفَرَاغَكَ قبل شُغْـلِك ، و حيَاتَك قبل موتِك .
Oh Abu Thar, take advantage of five before five. Your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your spare time before your busy time, and your life before your death.
يا أبا ذر ! لو نظرتَ إلى الأجل ومَسِيرِه ِ، لأَبْغَضْتَ الأَمَلَ وغُرورَه .
Oh Abu Thar! If you have seen the end (your death) and the way leading to it, you would have hated the false hope and its misconceptions.
يا أبا ذر ! كن في الدنيا كأنك غريب ، أو كعابر سبيل ، وعُدَّ نَفْسَكَ في أهل القبور .
Oh Abu Thar! Be in this life as a stranger, or a visitor passing thru, and count yourself among the dead.
يا أبا ذر ! إذَا أصبحتَ فلا تحدِّثْ نَفْسَكَ بالمساء ، وإذا أمسيت فلا تحدِّث نفسك بالصباح ، وخذ من صحتك قبل سَقَمِك ، ومن حياتك قبل موتك ، فإنك لا تدري ما إسمك غدا ً.
Oh Abu Thar! If you are alive in the morning don’t think about the evening, and if you are alive at night don’t think about the morning (for you may not live till that time). And use your (time wisely in) health before your sickness, and take advantage of your life before you die, for you don’t know what your name is tomorrow.
يا أبا ذر ! كُنْ على عمرِك أَشَحَّ مِنْكَ على دِرْهَمِكَ ودِينارِك .
Oh Abu Thar! Be stingier with your time (living years) than with your money.
يا أبا ذر ! إن شَرَّ الناسِ عندَ الله عز وجل يومَ القيامة ، عالِمٌ لا يَـنْـتَفِعُ بعِلْمِه ِ، ومَنْ طلَبَ عِلماً لِـيَصْرِفَ به وجوهَ الناس إِلَـيْهِ لم يَـجِدْ ريح الجنة .
Oh Abu Thar! The worst people to Allah (Almighty) on Judgment day are the knowledgeable men who didn’t benefit from that knowledge. And the men who seek knowledge to get people’s attention will never find the scent of heaven.
يا أبا ذر ! من ابتغى العلم ليخدع به الناس ، لم يجد ريح الجنة .
Oh Abu Thar! He who seeks knowledge to deceive people will never find heaven’s scent.
يا أبا ذر ! تطلَّع قوم من أهل الجنة إلى قوم من النار ، فيقولون : ما أدخلكم النار ؟ وإنما دخلنا الجنة بفضل تأديبكم وتعليمكم ! فيقولون : إنّا كُنّا نأمُرُ بالمعروف ولا نفعله..(...)
Oh Abu Thar! Some people in heaven looked at some in hell, they questioned them: How did you enter hell, when we entered heaven with your teaching and guidance? They replied: we advised people to practice good deeds but we didn’t practice what we preached.
يا أبا ذر ! إنَّ المؤمن ليرى ذنبَهُ كأنّه تحت صخرة ، يخاف أن تقع عليه ، والكافر يرى ذنبه كأنه ذباب مرَّ على أنفه.
Oh Abu Thar! The Believer sees his sin as rock above him afraid it will fall crushing him. And the disbeliever sees his sin as a fly passing on front of his nose.
يا أبا ذر ! إن الله تبارك وتعالى إذا أراد بعبد خيراً
جعل الذنوب بين عينيه ممثلة . والإثم عليه ثقيلاً وبيلاً . وإذا أراد الله بِعَـبْدِهِ شراً أنساه ذنوبه .
Oh Abu Thar! When Allah blessed be His name wants to reward a person He makes his sins in front of his eyes and his guilt like a heavy burden upon him. And if Allah wants to harm a person He makes him forget his sins.
يا أبا ذر ! لا تنظر إلى صِغَر الخطيئة ، ولكن انظر إلى مَنْ عصيت.(...)
Oh Abu Thar! Don’t think how small your sin is but think of who you disobeyed.
يا أبا ذر ! لا تنطق فيما لا يعنيك ، فإنك لستَ منه في شيء ، واخْزَنْ لِسانَك كما تَخْزَن رزقَك .
Oh Abu Thar! Don’t speak of what matters not to you, for it doesn’t concern you. And safe keep your tongue like you safe keep your livelihood.
